Roy grew up in Long Island, N.Y. He received a B.A. from Lamburth University in Jackson, TN and a M.A from Gordon-Conwell Seminary.

Roy is married and has 3 children - all WCA graduates. Their two sons graduated from Wheaton College and their daughter graduated from Evangel University. He has been an elder in his church since 1991 and a teacher at WCA since 1985. Roy has participated in missions trips to Paraguay and India. He is an avid Yankees fan and his personal interests include camping and hiking. Roy has over 20 years experience in wilderness ministry.
